Franco Mendez, multidisciplinary artist born in Tucuman, Argentina, based in Barcelona since 2017. Among my recent exhibition projects is the work “Desert Skins”, a collaboration with artist Mario Rodriguez at the Museum of Islamic Art during the annual Sharjah Contemporary Art Festival in 2018. I also participated in the creation of “Inner Awakening,” a piece presented at the Sharjah Calligraphy Biennial in 2022, along with calligrapher Yubran Gozne and digital artist Fernando Ramos. It was also in the United Arab Emirates.

Throughout my experience in the visual arts I have been formally engaged in video art and experimental photography. Through these media, I explored the interaction between nature, movement and technology, seeking to discover the extraordinary in the most ordinary situations. I am currently inspired by combining manual techniques with the latest technologies available for image generation through the training of artificial intelligence models. From this premise I have been working for a year in the production of a new work called “certain deserts” in which I work with charcoal drawings that are then digitally processed.

My main interest is to manifest, through art, the coherence and contradiction that coexist in us, with maturity in front of the vices of contemporary visual culture, aspiring to an authentic and provocative vision.
